These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, following the mission, values, and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the tracking, coordination and communication of patient referrals
  • Assembles information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs.
  • Contacts insurance companies to ensure verification of benefits and prior authorization approval requirements are met as needed.
  • Reviews details and expectation of referral with the potential patient.
  • Assists patients in problem solving potential issues related financial or social barriers (e.g., request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services, etc.)
  • Ensures that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.• Reminds patients of scheduled appointment.
  • Communication with referral sources to ensure patient information/ registration is complete.
  • Communicates patient updates between program and referring source
  • Greets all patients and families in an enthusiastic, sensitive and supportive manner, while understanding the importance of service excellence.
  • Organizes and sends out visit notes and results to third party referral sources.
  • Answers incoming phone calls as necessary and provides information to caller according to departmental guidelines.
  • Enthusiastically answers general patient and guest inquiries.
  • Provide support and/or relief coverage as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: High School Diploma required.
Skills: Good oral and written communication skills required. Previous experience with data entry on a computer system preferred. Must have excellent organizational skills required.
Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology preferred. Previous customer service and or education preferred.
Abilities: Ability to provide excellent customer service at all times, particularly with more difficult patients required. Ability to multi-task required. Ability to work independently as well as be a leader in the team environment required.
