The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for Residency Recruitment and Retention Specialist position within the School of Education.

 

This position has a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 0.95. This position is grant-funded through June 30th, 2025.

JOB SUMMARY

The Recruitment and Retention Specialist will collaborate with our school district partners to engage in activities related to recruitment of students to the residency program and partner to plan and implement induction support activities. Additionally, coordinator/specialist will plan and implement wrap-around support activities for residency cohorts.  These activities are funded through the MN Residency grant, funded by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and awarded to the School of Education. 

 

The Recruitment and Retention coordinator/specialist will coordinate recruitment, retention, and induction work. We will recruit someone familiar with the teacher residency pathway, racial affinity work, and teacher induction work. This position will collaborate closely with university residency staff, admissions staff, and district partners to engage in recruitment activities, including participating in information sessions, staffing recruitment events, collaborating on interview and selection activities, and organizing orientations.  This position will plan and implement wrap-around support, including affinity groups, alumni, and student networking events, and as needed design and implement other residency support activities. Finally, the Recruitment and Retention Specialist will work with the district partners to identify induction needs and co-plan induction events. With the grant team, this person will engage in evaluation of these activities. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recruitment

  • Help plan and facilitate information sessions with district partners
  • Help plan and facilitate interview and selection events with district partners
  • Plan and facilitate residency orientation events
  • Create and manage recruitment materials and activities 
  • Participate in National Center for Teacher Residency (NCTR) recruitment professional learning community
  • Build partnerships with community organizations to co-host recruitment events
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders on recruitment, interview and selection, and orientation events

Retention

  • Plan and facilitate affinity groups
    As needed, plan tutoring and study sessions
  • As needed, facilitate emergency fund applications and communication with finance, financial aid, and resident 
  • Plan and facilitate residency networking events
  • With district partners plan workshops and events to prepare residents for interviews and job selection
  • Gather feedback from residents on wrap-around needs; work with grant team to plan and implement

Induction

  • Partner with district staff to identify induction activities. This may include gathering information from graduates.
  • Plan induction activities, including hiring speakers, gathering materials, communicating with graduates, and developing contracts as needed
  • Gather feedback from graduates on the impact of induction support.

     

Collaborate and Coordinate with Grant Staff/Co-PIs/District Partners

  • Weekly, meet with our key grant personnel to plan implementation of grant priorities.
  • Regularly, meet with district staff to plan grant activities.       

 

 

Evaluation

  • Work with grant personnel (including internal and external evaluators) to participate in grant-required research studies with duties including tracking graduates, following up with survey completion, participating in grant evaluation meetings, and participating in dissemination of evaluation results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Three years of program management experience or experience working in education

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in education or a related field
  • Experience with the teacher pathways, preferably teacher residencies.

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
