M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital, located in Burnsville, is looking for a dynamic Nurse Manager to spearhead our quality work and retention initiatives for the Intensive Care and Medical Cardiac IMC Units!
Our 12 Bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN is part our 150 bed community based, family patient centered care with a level III trauma ER. We care for patients with many different diagnoses including but not limited to: sepsis, overdoses, withdrawals, CVA's, acute myocardial infarction, pneumonia and more. Our Medical Cardiac IMC unit (MS3) is a 39 bed unit with telemetry and telemetry hub. Med/Surg 3 boasts a variety of patients to include cardiac needs, telemetry needs, behavioral distress, complex medical needs, and intermediate ICU stepdown patients.
The Nursing Manager leads nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with and accountable to the Nursing Director, this includes nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities. This Nurse Manager will have direct reports in addition to leading the quality and retention work for both units.

Responsibilities
Job Expectations:
Manages day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization. Plans, manages, coordinates and evaluates patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management. Manages equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget. Accountable for capacity management to promote patient flow. Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the quality improvement initiatives.
In addition, the NM:
Is responsible for human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations. Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Advocates for patient, family and staff needs. Drives improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience. In partnership the Nursing Practice and Education team assure that evidence based/best practice clinical care is being delivered. Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency. Works with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives. Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research. Partners with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes.
Additional Work Requirements:
- Works collaboratively with Human Resources, Nursing Governance, and Nursing leaders to lead and support retention strategies.
- Facilitates team engagement on all nursing retention strategies.
- Assures ongoing and measurable progress of all nursing retention initiatives.
- Maintains knowledge of nursing retention best practices and incorporates into initiatives using employee engagement results, turnover data, etc.
- Facilitates Nursing Retention Oversight committees.
- Collaborates with Human Resources teams, including Talent Acquisition, Strategy, Workforce Development and Organization Development & Learning to increase nurse retention and positive employee relations.
- Leads cross-functional teams that strategize and deliver on ways to demonstrate value and improve outcomes through retention programs.
- Leads, runs and manages committees that include the development team, operations, outcomes, and analytics teams to define program processes, assessments, metrics and outcomes, as well as ensure quality and safety.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:
Required
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing. If Bachelor's degree is not in Nursing must have a Master's degree in Nursing.
Experience
- Four Years nursing experience, at least two of which is in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor, Administrative Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisor or Unit Manager role) leadership role.
License/Certification/Registration
- Licensed Registered Nurse. Ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license at time of hire.
- BLS certification
