Under general supervision, a Building Attendant oversees the proper use of community recreational facilities; provides physical set-up arrangements for classes, meetings, activities, and public and private functions in community buildings and assists the public and staff in their use of the facilities.
Example of duties include monitoring usage, setting up and removing tables, chairs and other equipment such as PA Systems; minor clean up including removing and disposing of trash from community recreational facilities during and after use; sweeping or mopping of floors; provide phone assistance and public information; may open and close for weekday, weekend and evening rentals and recreation classes.
Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Ability to do heavy physical work including the lifting and moving of tables and chairs
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to use sound judgment and maturity when dealing with unexpected issues Basic computer knowledge highly desirable
PHYSICAL STANDARDS

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must be 18 years or older.
Experience working with the public is desirable.
Previous experience as a Building Attendant is highly desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening, holidays, and weekends.
As a condition of employment, incumbents must pass a background check and will be required to be fingerprinted in accordance with State of California law.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid (desirable)
