Recreation Assistant (Lead Sales Clerk)

Incumbent assists Ticket and Travel Manager by leading and directing subordinates, answering questions, passing on instructions, resolving problems which arise, train new employees and ensures the smooth operations in the absence of the Tickets and Travel Manager. Performs a variety of duties in support of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Tickets and Travel program that may include special events, recreation information/resources, trips, tours, outings, resale tickets.Qualifications:

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

- Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity based functions.
- Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities.
- Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities.
- Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.
- Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities.
- Must have strong customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research on recreation topics for dissemination to customers.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
