$99,803.00 - $122,531.00 Annually
Positions with permanent duty stations in King County receive an additional 5% added to their monthly base salary. The salary listed in this announcement reflects the additional 5%.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking an Assistant Region Manager (ARM) Asset Management, Recreation and Natural Areaswithin our South Puget Sound Region.
Duties
Responsibilities:
This position reports to the South Puget Sound Region Manager and has region-wide administrative responsibilities for leading and managing state lands Asset Management, recreation planning and budgeting, public outreach and communications, natural area management, and leasing/business management. This position works under the guidance
of the Habitat Conservation Plan, the Forest Practice Rules, the Policy for Sustainable Forests, the Sustainable Harvest, the Endangered Species Act, all applicable collective bargaining agreements for the positions they supervise, and all other applicable laws, rules, regulations, and agency policies, procedures, and guidelines. This position reports to the
Region Manager and must interact with agency staff, the general public, organizations, companies, tribes, counties, and other states
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Forest Management or a related field; AND three years of professional-level experience with a demonstrated progression in leadership responsibilities in the areas of land and resources management
    OR an associate degree in forest management or a related field, AND five years of professional-level experience with a demonstrated progression in leadership responsibilities in the areas of land and resources management.

  • Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
    • Both indoors and outdoors work, with the majority in the field evaluating and assuring
      income production, successful recreation, and Natural Areas management, and habitat
      development outcomes.
    • Occasional travel to Olympia and statewide happens several times a year.
    • A valid unrestricted driver's license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.

    • Managing complex planning and budgets
    • Understand, interpret, and implement broad department mission, goals, and policy
    • Negotiate solutions to complex issues
    • Maintain and develop connections to the local-, district-, and Region-wide communities
    • Provide second-level supervision over multiple work units with one or more supervisors
    • Work under minimal supervision within the context of broad agency policies

    Insurance Benefits

    Retirement and Deferred Compensation
