ABOUT THE POSITION
As the Part Time Recreation Assistant, you will:
- Assist with programming the various elements of special events and special event set up.
- Opening and closing buildings according to schedule and special events to include weekends.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations and monitor security of all facilities.
- Training volunteers related to events programs and activities.
- Prepare sports fields daily to include cutting grass, painting field lines, watering and grooming infields, chalking foul lines.
- Provide front line customer service on the phone, walk-ins for facility reservations and information and to event participants during events.
- Assists with instruction of recreation programs, classes, activities, and events
- Assist in creating flyers, schedules, forms, and certificates.
- Update files, binders, faxing information to businesses, organizations, and schools.
- May assist with cleaning facilities if need.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ability to:
- Work independently or collaboratively
- Communicate effectively with a diverse population.
- Work with software applications such as MS Office Suite of Programs including Excel Spreadsheets
- Perform general calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
- Follow Recreation policies and procedures when working with citizens or event participants.
- Follow direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, Interns, Volunteers or Temporary employees as event or program requires.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
- Work varying schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays as special events require.
- Pass an extensive background check including polygraph examination.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED: All requirements must be maintained throughout employment
- Residency in the United States and within 25 miles of the City of San Luis.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License at the time of appointment and
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent;
- One (1) year of customer service experience;
- First Aid/CPR Certification or must be able to obtain it within 90 days of hire; AND
- Fingerprint Clearance Card or able to obtain prior first-day employment
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- San Luis residency.
