About Green Valley Recreation, Inc.

Green Valley Recreation Inc. (GVR) is a membership-based 501(c)(4) non-profit that provides a wide variety of recreation, social, and leisure opportunities to approximately 80% of households in the Green Valley, AZ area. While GVR is not age-restricted, most members are over the age of 55. GVR owns and operates fourteen recreation centers including an award-winning, 24-court pickleball center.

GVR's mission is: To provide excellent facilities and services that create opportunities for recreation, social activities, and leisure education to enhance the quality of our members' lives.

Green Valley is approximately 25 minutes south of Tucson on I-19. The community is comprised of 120+ distinct Home Owners Associations, with housing available to fit every budget. Most HOAs are age-restricted, requiring at least one owner to be age 55 or older, and prohibiting permanent residence of children. Family-friendly and fast-growing Sahuarita adjoins the Green Valley area to the north.

About the position

Job Title: Center Operations Assistant (COA)

Department: Recreation

Reports To: Recreation Services Supervisor

Summary

The Center Operations Assistant (COA) is responsible for performing on-site facility checks to ensure a safe and friendly environment for all GVR members, guests, and volunteer staff, as well as supporting employees and members in day-to-day functions. The COA acts as shift lead to Recreation Services Assistants (RSAs) working in GVR's fourteen recreation centers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct walk-throughs of each facility to identify and correct any safety concerns or policy violations.
  • Reviews program plans for the day and organizes Recreation Service Assistants as needed to cover for large events or fill in where staffing is lacking.
  • Act as a liaison between GVR and its members and guests.
  • Manage pool closings and openings during inclement weather, including proper communication of such.
  • Interact with members in a friendly and upbeat manner while listening to and acting upon any questions or concerns.
  • Verify membership status of facility users by checking membership cards.
  • Deliver all mail (interoffice and regular) and requested office supplies to centers.
  • Complete incident reports both for accident/illnesses and for behavioral issues when appropriate.
  • Complete work order requests for maintenance issues.
  • Ensure bulletin boards are updated and literature bins are filled at each center.
  • Tours all GVR locations and is visible to GVR members and guests for questions and information.
  • Enforces safety regulations.
  • Assists RSAs with large set-ups or other programs, as needed.

Ancillary Job Functions

  • Resupply the COA vehicle with needed supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in the English language, written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, in person and via telephone.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, cell phones and/or radio equipment, telephones, computers, fax machine, copiers, etc.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, communicate proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of GVR operations, services, policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and apply decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with varying hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
