Recreation Assistant

Position: Assistant Activities Aide

Hours:Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Saturdays 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Occupation Overview: The Activity Aide position is an important position at Hilton East Assisted Living. This individual is responsible in ensuring that the residents have adequate involvement in recreational activities per New York State Regulations and encourage their participation.

Job Description: A(n) Activity Aide’s main responsibility is to ensure that the residents receive stimulating activities on a daily basis to help improve their quality of life. There are numerous responsibilities for this position which include, but are not limited to the following;

Responsibilities-

• Works under the Supervision of the Director of Activities
• Reports any employee or client changes to proper nurse or Administration.
• Attends and participates in mandatory Meetings.
• Encourages resident participation in offered Activities
• Attends any outings, such as shopping trips, breakfast and lunch. trips etc..
• Track resident attendance to all activities
• Minimal paperwork
• Must be flexible to work occasional weekends and share Holidays

Skill Requirements:

Intellectual-

• Must be responsible, consistent and able to meet commitments
• Must have good judgment and know when nursing assistance is required.
• Must be able to multi-task and be able to organize and structure responsibility.
• Must be able to adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Must adhere to NYS Regulations

Social-

• Good communication skills are necessary, if you are not a people person; this job is not a good match for you.
• Must be able to treat people who need assistance with kindness and respect, regardless of the patient’s mood or your mood.
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Must have patience
• A love for the elderly
• Creative

Physical requirements-

• None

Exception;Some activities involve lifting or pushing, must not have any restrictions that would prevent employee from completing these tasks.Compliance requirements- Must have Valid NYS Drivers license

• Must have current (within 30 days of employment) Physical.
• Must have current PPD test with a negative result.
• Experience working with the geriatric population a plus!

• 9PM

Typical start time:

• 5 PM

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $16.25 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
