Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Recovery Specialist II is responsible for mitigating Wings’ credit losses, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of required documentation, managing the Overdraft Protection Plus program, working closely with attorneys, and providing general administrative support to the Department. Responsibilities are completed under general supervision, and within established policies, procedures, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Uphold and serve as subject matter expert of all Federal regulations pertinent to Overdraft Protection Plus (Reg D, Reg CC, Reg E, OFAC, SAR, Right to Privacy), as well as industry rules (NACHA) and credit union policy.
- Monitor and process Overdraft Protection Plus transactions, including account setup, communications and terminating privileges as appropriate.
- Develop and complete reporting to monitor the effectiveness of Wings Overdraft Protection Plus program.
- Identify, recommend and support Overdraft Protection Plus program and process improvement, innovation, and automation.
- Identify and support Member Credit Solutions Department processes improvements and innovations.
- Engage with attorneys on legal files, ensuring documented communication and submission of required forms and affidavits.
- Process accounts recommended for judgment via conciliation court, managing all steps with assistance from internal or external legal counsel.
- Serve as a liaison between the Department and Wings Legal, Fraud Intelligence and Compliance Departments.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of equivalent experience preferred or a combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Federal rules and regulations of funds transfers.
- Working knowledge of NACHA rules and regulations for ACH.
- Must have good organizational skills, detail oriented with strong emphasis on accuracy is required.
- Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office and collection software and databases.
- Excellent multi-mode communication skills including oral, written, email, and instant messaging.
- Ability and desire to maintain quality of service while performing multiple tasks.
- Good judgment for reviewing accounts to prevent loss to the Credit Union.
- Must be able to work in a team environment, have strong problem solving skills, and be able to independently learn on the go.
