The Toledo Center for Eating Disorders (TCED) is looking for Recovery Care Specialists (RCS) to work with clients in our Adolescent and Adult Residential Eating Disorder Programs. The ideal candidate will possess mature judgment, dedication and the ability to deal with confidential information. The RCS will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and supervising the daily dietary needs and activities of daily living for the adolescent and adult clients in the TCED Adolescent and Adult Residential Eating Disorder Program.
Essential Responsibilities include:
- Providing structure and maintaining a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the clinical team, nurses, therapists and administrative team.
- Interacting in one-to one situations, community and group settings, maintaining appropriate boundaries and modeling appropriate social behaviors.
- Maintains each client’s physical and psychological safety at all times.
- Respects and upholds the confidentiality of all client information.
- Provides accurate and ongoing assessment of client’s status and responds appropriately.
- Documents client progress each shift according to program policy.
- Prompting clients to all meals in a timely manner and providing supervision and structure at all meal times.
- Overseeing clients in completing ADLs, including meal times.
- Ensuring clients are not engaging in eating disorder behaviors throughout the course of the day and night.
- Documenting in accordance to policies and procedures services provided, incident reports, shift reports and/or department reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Experience in the mental health or medical field and experience with eating disorders is preferred.
- Transporting clients to appointments and/or community outings.
- Ability to document all work and complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- Occasional weekend and holiday work required.
- Complete understanding of activity/band levels and associated client rules/expectations
- General understanding of Nutritional philosophy, Body image issues, and typical ED behaviors.
- General understanding of programs/philosophy offered by Toledo Center.
- Follow proper communication guidelines for staff members, vendors, clients, and supervisor.
- Follow all HIPAA and Privacy rules/expectations Relationships/work well with others.
- Adaptable to changes in job/environment Responsible for position’s cleaning requirements, including:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (counseling, psychology, social work) is preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification
