Patient Care Specialist

The Delaware Speech and Hearing Center is seeking a Patient Care Specialist to join our team! We are a nonprofit agency who has been helping people of all ages with their communications needs in Delaware County and surrounding areas since 1959.

The Patient Care Specialist will work in our outpatient clinic in Delaware supporting patients receiving services and supporting clinicians providing Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Therapy. The team member must strive to contribute significantly to the well-being and success of children and adolescents.

The purpose of the position is to assist with clinic organization and efficient operations. Specific duties include:

• Check-in patients and assist in following safety precautions. Receive and greet all patients and visitors to the clinic then notify appropriate personnel of their presence.
• Receive all incoming phone calls, messages or faxes effectively while maintaining a professional image.
• Provide support for scheduling, billing, marketing and outreach initiatives.
• Manage the lobby reception area to ensure a clean, welcoming appearance of the clinic offices and entrances.
• Input patient data to obtain authorization for services and/or generate claims.
• Provide follow-up to new patient referrals.
• Accept other clerical or administrative duties.
• Perform all services and duties in a manner consistent with organizational policies, procedures, processes and quality standards
• Provide backup support to the other administrative personnel as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information.

Typical schedule is 4-630pm Monday through Thursday and 730am -1pm on Friday. More hours per week may be added in the next few months, and there may be options for coverage of other positions during some weeks. Position is a good match for a college student or recent retiree.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.75 - $17.75 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 15 per week

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Medical office: 1 year (Preferred)
• Customer Service: 1 year (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

• Delaware, OH 43015: Relocate before starting work (Required)
