Job Description

Prepare, maintain and distribute manual/computerized Law Enforcement and Public Records. Provide assistance for all divisions in the Police Department. Handle and maintain confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • More than one year experience handling large volumes of computer data entry and general office procedures.
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm.
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.

Knowledge of:

  • Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment
  • Federal, State and local laws, and City Ordinances to complete daily tasks
  • City records retention policies and practices
  • English grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Basic math and data processing procedures
  • Cash drawer procedures
Skill in:
  • Requires the aptitude to communicate and interrelate effectively with others, elicit collaboration of others, and establish and maintain sound working relationships
  • Requires the skill to communicate with others to assimilate and comprehend information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature

Ability to:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
  • Meet schedules and deadlines
  • Interpret State laws and City ordinances to complete daily tasks
  • Obtain Notary Public
  • Cope, negotiate and resolve conflict in a crisis situation
