WORK WEEK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday
WORK HOURS: 8:00-5:00

POSITION PURPOSE
The person in this position will be responsible for managing the front desk of the central office with regard to responsibilities such
as greeting visitors and sharing information with the public through the use of the telephone and other forms of electronic
resources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and employee information
• Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, teachers, support staff
members, and other community groups
• Effective organizational skills
• Knowledge of Randolph County School System (RCSS) board policies, procedures, and standards
• Ability to work well within a team environment that values an open exchange of ideas
• Ability to maintain open/effective communications and use problem-solving techniques to tactfully address and resolve
questions/concerns/issues with all stakeholders including students, parents, staff members, and visitors to the school
system's central office
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Three years of professional work experience
• A minimum of three years of successful experience in a career involving work with the public and/or multiple colleagues/individuals
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage communications received by the school system with the aid of a three-line telephone system, email, and a fax
machine
• Maintain an accurate telephone extension list for central service staff members and share this information with staff
members with updates as needed
• Schedule the use of facilities at central office (such as the Board of Education Room, the Center Conference Room, and
the Finance Conference Room) through the use of an online calendar and make this information accessible to all central
service staff members
• Service the postage machine and fax machine as needed
• Keep the reception area organized with a welcoming appearance to students, parents, staff members, and visitors to the
school system
• Assist central service departments with mailings as needed
• Manage the school system's use of the Raleigh Courier Mail System 2
• Manage the school system's internal courier mail system
• Handle data entry and the annual state report for the school system's Driver Education Program
• Share special announcements with appropriate stakeholder groups (such as weather closings with callers from the public
and power outages with school staff members/central service staff members)
• Perform other related duties as assigned
