As the Research and Development Scientist/Engineer II for Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) in our North America Foodservice (NAF) Dry Mix team, you will be responsible for the execution of new product strategy, concept development, product formulation, and process development for ITQ to enable the business to win in the marketplace.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to impact the ITQ function by leveraging your strong technical, influence, and project management skills to support all aspects of the product development cycle that will add value to General Mills brands and NAF customers. You will collaborate with internal and external business partners to develop new product offerings, renovate existing products, and improve margins.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Scientist II for NAF Dry Mix supports innovation, renovation, and margin management across products in our dry mix portfolio.
- Partner directly with Sales and NAF customers to develop products for customers' Back of House operations.
- Support a wide range of project activities including product development, customer partnership, and generating cost savings opportunities.
- Lead multiple initiatives from creation through commercialization by prioritizing work and coaching others, both internally and externally.
- Partner with external supply chain to qualify and commercialize production in facilities that are new to the NAF dry mix portfolio.
- Collaborate with business team to develop strategies and profit through innovation, renovation and HMM; Partner with NAF business team and external partners to enhance Core renovation strategy and execution and develop winning taste solutions for General Mills
- Independently consult, design, and manage the appropriate product stability studies to meet business needs and enhance product foundational knowledge.
- Manage and lead technically complex projects under tight timelines: create technical plans, timelines, risk assessments, and mitigation plans; identify opportunities by challenging formulation and processing assumptions
- Scale-up from bench to pilot plant to plant
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Food Science or other related fields
- 3+ years of experience in product development or an applied science
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to challenge assumptions and build robust technical plans to test hypotheses
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead multiple complex, large-scale, technically-driven projects from concept to commercialization.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional and external environment and provide key product guidance.
- Applicable Research and development experience in innovation, renovation, and HMM
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $67300.00 - $101200.00 / Annually.
