WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
This position requires a highly motivated, innovative, and organized candidate with strong communication and technical skills. The Technician will support numerous R&D projects with laboratory, pilot plant, and production scale experiments under the guidance of R&D Scientists. This will be an interactive, hands-on position in the R&D Lab and Lab Pilot Plant.
- Support pilot plant operations with set up, sanitizing, and clean up
- Assist with experimental design to support pilot scale troubleshooting
- Support projects with laboratory analytical work
- Assist Scientists with lab scale batching and processing
- Provide technical assistance to cross functional team members when necessary
- Balance multiple project initiatives simultaneously and be flexible to changing directions
- Support general laboratory cleanliness, organization and function
- Manage lab and pilot plant ingredients and supplies
- Provides administrative support as needed, such as sales sample management, shipment coordination, paperwork verification, equipment calibration and maintenance, maintenance and work order management
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- General laboratory skills including balance use, volumetric measurement and food ingredient handling
- Confidence to learn systems and to operate sophisticated processing equipment with training
- Organizational and planning skills. Can execute timelines with guidance, that contain primary as well as contingency plans
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, builds effective working relationship at all levels. Highly-effective team player.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and seek creative solutions when necessary
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
- Computer skills include Excel, Word, Power Point, database and internet tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mechanically inclined with understanding of pumps and heat exchange equipment.
- General knowledge of food processing equipment and technologies
- Science or Engineering background
- 1-3 years of experience demonstrating the skills required for this position
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work environment includes office, kitchen, pilot plant and manufacturing locations
- Ability to walk or stand up to 3/4 of the workday
- Physical ability to handle weights of approximately 50 lbs
- Ability to work in both hot and cold environments on occasion
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 1st shift (8am-5pm) Monday through Friday, when business requires overtime will be mandatory
