A Rugged and Beautiful 4600 Acre Ranch in Eastern Oregon Near John Day, Oregon. We seek a full-time couple to live on the ranch and become stewards of this semi-remote property. This is an ideal opportunity for retired individuals, ex-military personnel, or those who enjoy the outdoors and living off the grid.
Responsibilities. Work about 25 hours a week, more or less. Landscape maintenance including mowing, raking pine needles to reduce fire risk around structures, and moving hoses and sprinklers. Some basic machinery upkeep like fluid and filter changes on ATVs, backhoe and skid steer, etc. Coordinate with service providers and ensure the property is secure. Some household cleaning of the Owner’s cabin.
Requirements. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to do general property maintenance. Must own a 4X4 vehicle (In the winter the road off the ranch can be rough with snow.).
Benefits. Compensation of $2,400 per month. Rent of $400 per month for an off-the -grid house built in 1998. The house is on solar with a 10kw backup generator. All the amenities including Wi-Fi, Electric fridge, dishwasher, and propane heat and cook stove. Plus a nice wood stove. Full-time access to a UTV for wandering around the ranch.
Lone Pine Ranch. The Ranch encompasses grasslands, ponderosa pine, juniper, mixed conifer forests and a couple of creeks. We have elk, deer and turkeys roaming the property. Yes, we hunt. We are strong stewards of the land. We have protected riparian areas, aspen groves and we have thinned a lot of the forest to reduce the fire hazard. The owner lives in the Willamette Valley but spends a lot of time at the ranch.
