Job description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Radiological Control Manager to work on our Environmental, Health, Safety & Quality (ESH&Q) team. Our team works a 4x10 out of our Material and Fuels Complex in Idaho Falls, Idaho with  every Friday off. 

The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Radiological Controls Manager provides the leadership, direction and management of MFC RadCon Department ensuring successful implementation and delivery of a safe, reliable and efficient radiological operation to support MFC nuclear energy, science and technology missions.

This is an onsite position reporting to the MFC Safety & Compliance Director

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for overall management and safe operation of radiological activities conducted at MFC and the Facility Division Directorates.  
  • Develop policies and procedures applicable to the radiological, research, operational and maintenance activities for safe operations and to ensure ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.  
  • Institutionalize the INL Values, creating an environment and culture which motivates management and staff to commit to a safe, secure and radiologically compliant operation.
  • Obtain and integrate feedback from employees concerning radiological, safety, health, quality and environmental issues for specific activities and lessons learned.  
  • Provide leadership, vision and direction for the daily radiological activities performed at the MFC; Provide the direct leadership to the MFC Radiological Control Organization Field Manager, Assistant RadCon Manager, Radcon Supervisors, technical staff and Health Physics Technicians (HPTs).  
  • Provide organizational leadership for staff regarding work assignments to support the Radiological Program activities and Facility Directorates mission for the safe conduct of radiological activities at MFC. Provide daily interface with the Radcon Program home organization and Facility Directorate management to ensure program success.
  • Participate in the strategic development of a human capital plan for the RadCon Department located at MFC.   
  • Delegate responsibilities and translate human capital goals into specific objectives, provide appropriate level of direction. 
  • Hold department managers accountable for staffing levels, development, training effectiveness, performance management and recognition of assigned staff.  Provide mentoring and motivation to staff for the leadership and technical skills needed to meet performance milestones and incentive achievements.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline plus 10 years experience or Advanced Degree in a relevant discipline plus 8 years experience or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, must have at least 18 years of relevant experience in Radiological Controls.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Experience: 

  • NRRPT or CHP preferred 

Job Information: 

  • Salary Grade: MR0300 - 230 ($124,368 - $211,596)
