Manage a team of 8-10 engineers responsible for the design of hardware assets for the Canon-based LaserJet portfolio. Contribute to creation of roadmaps for Control Panels and formatter PCAs, while also managing the PC layout team members. Follow through with high-quality on-time execution. Proactively communicate status and issue mitigation. Build an empowered team that fosters a culture of innovation, personal growth, community, service, and appreciation.
General Responsibilities
- Provide direct and ongoing leadership for the PCAs and Control Panels used in Canon-based LaserJet products.
- Create strategic and tactical operations and resource plans, goals, and priorities for assigned organization based on business and technology roadmap and functional objectives.
- Manage headcount, schedules, and budgets, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that deliverables are met in accordance with organizational metrics and business plans.
- Manage relationships and escalated issues with global partners and suppliers. Set expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
- Identify opportunities and lead organizational initiatives to support business process improvements. Optimize balance between asset leverage, cost reductions and multi-sourcing for assurance of supply.
- Foster an inclusive culture by hiring and retaining key talent, with an eye towards diversity.
- Provide overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, performance plans, coaching, and career development.
- Make critical decisions that enable the success of product development and delivery.
- Represent the team and remove hurdles to enable each team member to operate at the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
- Be an advocate and have a passion for team and team members' success.
- Maintain high morale and motivate the HW design teams to go above and beyond.
- Advocate for technical excellence and help the teams make solid decisions. Promote sharing and consistent use of best practices for design margin, regulatory compliance, and energy savings.
Education and Experience
- First level university degree in a technical field. (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
- Advanced university degree preferred.
- Typically 5 or more years of related work experience, including 0 -2 years of people management experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and management.
- Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
- Strong analytical and project solving skills.
- Ability to manage human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
- Strong verbal and communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences (written, verbal, presentation). Mastery in in English.
- Strong business acumen, technical knowledge of multiple business units and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
- Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.
- Good understanding of HP's policies and processes.
