The Quantitative Portfolio Manager reports to the Chief Investment Officer and is responsible for managing Custom Equity Index portfolios and values-based enhanced index mutual funds; working with the institutional group regarding portfolios, processes, and customization; and supporting efforts in developing and speaking about values-based investing.
A successful candidate in this role will possess significant equity market experience, excellent analytical and organizational skills, strong attention to detail as well as solid verbal and written communication skills. This person will work with Investment Operations staff, Portfolio Managers, research analysts, and sales team members. The candidate must have the ability to work well with other team members, as well as independently, and possess a high degree of integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned. They are not necessarily all inclusive.
- Firstly, manage Custom Equity Index (CEI) portfolios and our values-based enhanced index mutual funds.
- Secondly, work with the Vice President of the Global Institutional Group in organizing conversations with clients, prospects and consultants in order to review portfolios, processes, and customization.
- Thirdly, support, or lead when required, firm efforts in developing and speaking about values-based investing to wider Crossmark audiences.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. finance, accounting, mathematics, business, economics, engineering, or a related field.) required and/or 10+ years of experience in institutional investment management, conducting research or quantitative analysis work, overseeing the administration of an investment program, engineering, math or related field.
- CFA charterholder or equivalent designation required.
- Superior risk management capabilities.
- Index replication knowledge, corporate action expertise and keen attention to detail.
- Experience in developing and maintaining detailed technical documentation for models, model validation, project plans, and processes preferred.
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and committed to deliver under tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to discuss technical issues with clients and prospects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collaborative environment.
- Organized, disciplined and detail oriented with sound problem-solving skills, and the ability to think creatively.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This person must be able to exchange accurate information when working with others, think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make sound decisions. He/she must be able to work at a desk operating a computer and other office equipment at least 90 percent of the time, as well as move about the facility to meet with people and access files, other information, operate office machinery, etc.
Location: Houston preferred, however for the right candidate, we would consider remote with travel.
