GSET Production Engineering: Automation and Tools Development
We are a development group focused on building tools that enable frontline teams to support GSET trading applications efficiently and effectively. We work primarily with the state-of-the-art Atlas system, contributing code to both our own codebase and to Atlas itself. We are involved in metrics, montitoring, alerting, deployment and change management with the overarching goal of minimizing operational risk.
As a small team, even the most junior team members own their projects from beginning to end, interacting directly with our internal customers from design to deployment. Through this daily interaction with core developers, frontline staff and client coverage desks, this position offers the opportunity to learn about electronic equity trading, low-latency system architecture and global markets generally.
We use primarily Python, with some Java, in a linux environment. Applicants must be strong OO developers; associate level.
Responsibilities
- Develop software tools for application monitoring, alerting and deployment
- Partner with application teams to prioritize business-driven requirements
- Minimize operational risk by building reliable, robust and resilient systems
- Actively participate in system design, platform management, and capacity planning
- Plan and manage own projects from beginning to end; interact directly with users
- Identify and build improvements to system behavior, control and monitoring tools
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least 2 years experience developing software professionally
- Experience with at least one of Java, Python or C#
- Desire and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing in a Linux environment
- Knowledge of network concepts, topologies, and technologies
- Database experience, either SQL or non-SQL
- Prior SRE, DevOps or trading floor experience
- Interest in financial markets, technology and the ability to learn
