Role Overview:
Luna is hiring a quality engineer for the software development team. This role reports to the Director of Software Engineering. The engineer will work to improve software quality by implementing manual and automated testing processes throughout the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC). This includes embedding automated tests into development pipelines and creating efficient processes for resolving any bugs or defects discovered.
In short, this quality engineer will take a holistic approach to software quality and will also help to shift quality testing. This means testing code changes early and often to improve quality more efficiently and reduce the overall burden on development teams. In order to integrate quality engineering processes into the SDLC, the quality engineer will need strong technical skills and a variety of soft skills.

Responsibilities Include:
- Test Development and Validation
- Overall ownership of the test plan & validation strategy for releases
- Maintenance/Update of Continuous Integration environment
- Definition of manual system tests to prove correctness
- Automated screenshot testing against GUI requirements spec
- Automated Bluetooth testing of a medical device peripheral
- Running tests, analyzing test results against expectations, and debugging observed quality issues
- Maintenance and Sustaining
- Qualification of new development tools
- Xcode
- Android Studio
- Firmware
- Google Cloud Platform
- Compatibility testing on new iOS releases and Apple phones
- Regression testing and validation of open-source package updates (iOS, Android, GCP and Firmware)
- Keep tabs on known bugs and vulnerabilities in open-source package dependencies
- Actively monitor for product and data quality issues during internal testing and clinical trials
- Qualification of new development tools
Experience Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor's degree in an engineering related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Past development expertise writing Cucumber tests in the Gherkin language for a native iOS application
- Xcode XCUITest development
- Experience developing software in a regulated industry (medical, government, etc.) and how to formally validate software against a requirement spec
- Familiarity writing protocols for software V&V (Verification and Validation)
- Cross collaboration with various teams using strong verbal and written communication skills
- Development expertise and/or knowledge of test frameworks for iOS/Swift, Google Cloud Platform/Node.js and Android/Kotlin is highly desirable but not required
