JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Lab 67 - Quality Technician, Dimensional
FLSASTATUS: Non Exempt
REPORTS TO: Lab 67 - Technical Manager, Dimensional Engineering
SUMMARY
Utilizing the latest PC-DMIS CMM Programming Software, product CAD data, and customer drawings (GD&T) this position is responsible for developing the measurement programs and collecting the measurement data used by engineering and manufacturing to ensure the products we sell meet or exceed our customers' expectations. The Quality Technician (Dimensional) is responsible for creating inspection reports, providing reasoned feedback regarding the products being measured, and maintaining traceability between the inspection reports, CMM Programs, Product CAD, and GD&T Drawings. Coordinates and interfaces with Project, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers and Program Managers to ensure customer requirements are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Under general supervision, the Quality Technician (Dimensional) is responsible for the following tasks:
- Directs, Develops, and Performs Dimensional Inspections to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.
- Develops Inspection Programs that satisfy the requirements outlined in laboratory requests, supplied GD&T drawings and other customer specifications.
- Performs multi-piece dimensional inspections that utilize CMM, Optical Comparator and/or other appropriate measurement equipment to ensure the collection of accurate measurement information.
- Records measurements, reviews, and compiles measurement results into official reports
- Identifies issues during the inspection process and provides feedback to the requisitioning engineer.
- Works within the lab schedule to ensure that inspection projects are completed on time and equipment is utilized efficiently.
- Performs verification of metrology equipment (ASME B89), maintains equipment performance logs.
- Performs Gage Certification, CMM Gage R&R and Capability Studies
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 6 years CMM experience with at least 4 years of programming experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- A working knowledge of PC-DMIS CMM Programming Software and Microsoft Excel
- A working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Possesses good spatial reasoning.
- Possesses the ability to learn quickly and make reasoned decisions based on limited information
- Automotive quality control and CAD experience is a plus.
- Agreement to complete all post-hire required training.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position typically does require less than 5%travel.
