Main Objective
This role organizes and coordinates the activities of the Quality team, focused on the implementation of quality & food safety programs and standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervision of Quality/Lab Technicians. This includes scheduling, approving time records, periodic evaluation and performance documentation.
- Responsible for conducting departmental and job specific training.
- Conduct laboratory analyses and investigations, develop and apply new techniques.
- Maintain Good Laboratory Procedures (GLP's) including calibration. Order laboratory supplies.
- Create QC documents & labels, authorize finished product results and disposition accordingly. Hold/release products as needed.
- Manage document control, non-conformances, CAPA, audits and inspections.
- Maintain and update product specifications including customer specifications and raw material specifications to reflect any changes or product use requirements.
- Ensure finished product and raw materials are tested per Kerry specifications.
- In conjunction with the Quality Manager, update and support food safety programs and food safety systems: HACCP/Preventive Controls, sanitation, pest control, and environmental monitoring program. Maintain the quality systems for the plant.
- Perform and/or participate in internal audits while ensuring compliance to internal food safety and quality policies and applicable local regulations, develop corrective actions as needed.
- Support facility during inspections, customer and 3rd party audits, communications, commercialization's, and other interactions with regulatory agencies or customers.
- Provide technical support for resolution of food safety and quality problems with operations and key stakeholders.
- Participate in quality complaint investigations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or science related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in food industry with previous supervision experience.
- Must have good understanding of food pathogens, HACCP, SSOP's, GMP's, Foreign material prevention and control, USDA regulations, Pest Control, Food Allergens, Recall and Traceability and process control methods such as SPC, among others.
- Understanding of GFSI requirements preferred.
