Dessert Holdings is looking for a Quality Control Supervisor to join our team based in Kennesaw, GA. This individual will coordinate quality activities and provide leadership to ensure an effective food safety and quality management system is maintained. Provide technical support with an emphasis on customer expectations, continuous improvement opportunities, and productivity requirements. This position is responsible for supervising QC personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and review daily activities of QC Technicians and provide guidance regarding quality and food safety issues.
  • Coach, train, and support the QC team to support business growth.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with current policies, customer requirements, and FSQMS procedures.
  • Investigate and follow up on consumer and customer complaints.
  • Oversee product inspection and lab testing procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of QC/lab supplies and coordinate training from suppliers or new equipment purchased.
  • Responsible for creating sampling plans based on risk, interpreting results, and providing final dispositions based on statistical analysis.
  • Support the execution of internal and third-party audits (e.g., customer, regulatory, GFSI, etc.) and participate in inspections; analyzing the results and deficiencies found.
  • Provide technical support for any new product development to ensure procedures are effective to optimize quality and shelf life.
  • Assist with the activities of the company hold, trace, & recall program. Responsible for summarizing Hold reports.
  • Ensure that all products for release meet all microbiological/ analytical testing and manufacturing specifications.
  • Provide technical support and communicate with all functional departments (production, maintenance, sanitation, etc.) to resolve quality and food safety issues.
  • Provide support to customer requests related to food safety, quality, and customer support portals.
  • Keep informed on current trends, developments, and technology, regulatory issues, customer requirements, and other significant issues related to our business; inform management as needed.
  • Lead/Support technical training initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, meetings, committees, seminars, and training events as required.
  • Serve as backup to the Quality Manager.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • 2 or more years in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory or Team lead experience.
  • Certificate of training and actual experience in HACCP.
  • Experience in GFSI schemes (Global Food Safety Initiative) including SQF or BRCGS and quality management systems.
  • Experience with Sanitation principles, processes, and evaluation is an asset.
  • Very good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid computer skills – Microsoft Office, manufacturing/quality databases.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Office and manufacturing environment, including warehousing and freezing storage.
  • Able to lift, push, and pull 50+ pounds and stand for hours at a time.
