Who You Are: The Quality Specialist - Beverage will be responsible for adhering to programs to deliver performance metrics that will foster Continuous Improvement initiatives. The Quality Specialist - Beverage shall develop quality policies for providing a standard platform of quality and food safety requirements for all domestic and international beverage contract manufacturing locations. The Quality Specialist - Beverage shall bring a strong technical understanding of beverage manufacturing including carbonated beverages, hot fill, cold fill, and ideally aseptic manufacturing. The Quality Specialist - Beverage shall have a strong understanding of NSF certification and Certification for Sport, Food Safety regulations and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) best practices. The Quality Specialist - Beverage oversees pilot, scale up and commercial manufacturing and secondary or tertiary pack out of finished product and acts as the authority in the approval of finished goods specifications including specification development and review to ensure appropriate physical, chemical, analytical, and microbiological testing, equipment, methods, and frequency are established.


What You're Good At:

  • Ensuring Food Safety and Food Quality policies and procedures are in accordance with FDA, GFSI and NSF Certification Body GMP's and programs, HACCP, Food Safety and any other applicable governmental agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Developing benchmark standards and quality policies providing a standard platform of requirements for contract manufacturing locations.
  • Overseeing the development, execution, and maintenance of quality systems evaluation for contract manufacturing facilities.
  • Overseeing the execution of Customer (i.e. Specialty, Retail, e-Commerce, Digital, etc.) quality policies and standards for contract manufacturers.
  • Overseeing representative sampling, physical, chemical, analytical and microbiological requirements to meet Company expectations that support Quality standards.
  • Overseeing a complex and dynamic project portfolio to ensure attainment of business goals, including prioritization and agile processes to meet needed timelines.
  • Assessing equipment for product testing that is used in process and postproduction to test Nutrabolt products.
  • Analyzing product test data and collaborating with Contract Manufacturer to investigate and troubleshoot out of specification results.
  • Reviewing quality assurance processes, procedures, and capabilities to sustain the most cost effective and efficient methods for meeting quality requirements and making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
  • Monitoring and reporting quality assurance progress, notifying the sourcing team of any predicted shortfall or discrepancies against specifications with a proposed timeline for closure.
  • Providing necessary assistance and technical expertise to other team members concerning matters of quality.
  • Working with suppliers and industry experts to stay up to date with standards, analysis requirements, test methods and trends, maintaining communication with others in the organization.
  • Providing comprehensive communication internally and with external partners to support effective working relationships chain.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of a collaborative and customer focused culture within the organization.
  • Displaying a professional, acceptable attitude and image for all work associated with and undertaken on behalf of Nutrabolt.
  • Working with Comans to track and trend deviations, working to reduce number of deviations.
  • Supporting the out of specification investigations that include trending, driving effective implementation, and reporting of identified corrective and/or preventative actions as needed with contract manufacturers.
  • Implementing and leading process improvement for Quality functions as needed through reporting and presentations supporting Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Assembling data on performance metrics to facilitate the review of program/product effectiveness, efficacy, and actions for adherence to quality.
  • Suggesting and developing routine summary reports corresponding to KPIs.
  • Participating in projects as assigned, acting as contact with other departments and communicating regularly with direct management regarding status and timeline.
  • Interacting effectively with co-workers, management, and vendors to resolve problems.
  • Performing duties in accordance with company guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and appropriate industry and regulatory standards, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensuring ongoing and timely support of project-related activities and tasks
  • Performing additional tasks as necessary
  • In this role your goals and KPIs will be focused around:

    • On-Time execution to meet Company expectations

    What You Contribute:

    • B.S / B.A Food Science or related Field preferred with 5 – 10 years' Quality systems experience in Beverage, and Carbonated beverage facilities.
    • Team player with cooperative, collaborative style supported by good listening and partnering skills.
    • Culturally sensitive, with ability to work in a global multicultural cross functional organization, requiring ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones to accommodate global responsibilities.
    • Ability to travel globally to partner in project work with external contract manufacturing partners, and support pilot, scale up and commercial production at contract manufacturing facilities – travel approx. 10-40% or as needed
    • Physically fit for work in apilot plant and manufacturing environment, which includes travel, long periods of standing in a non-temperature-controlled environment, moving, and carrying or lifting to 10 pounds.
    • Must be able to taste limited quantities of beverage samples in evaluation against defined sensory specifications.
    • Possess strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
    • ASQ (i.e., CQA, CHA, CQI, CQE, CQM), PCQI, or HACCP certification preferred.
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Possess superior attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with people and communicate information to obtain positive results.
    • Capable of taking direction and completing assigned tasks on time
    • Possess MS Office Skills: MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams
    • Is independent and able to manage time efficiently and adjust to shifting priorities quickly.
    • Must be able to work well under tight deadlines
