Quality Engineer

We are currently hiring a Quality Engineer based at our Global Headquarters in Champaign, IL!

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring a high level of quality in our products by creating and implementing robust quality plans and holding our manufacturing facilities and partners accountable to them. In addition, the Quality Engineer works with our Supply Planning and Product Development teams to manage existing and new products to ensure that they arrive on time with quality that delights our customers.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection and test plans, procedures, and processes to ensure that components, subassemblies, and full completion level assemblies meet and exceed expectations.
• Coordinate with our Supply Demand and Product Development teams to meet planned production schedules.
• Work with our manufacturing facilities and partners to ensure capabilities, capacity, processes, and quality management systems are capable of meeting current and future needs.
• Implement processes to improve overall product quality and minimize the total cost of poor quality.
• Initiate corrective action requests using the 8D problem solving process. Assist our partners and suppliers in evaluating root causes and developing robust corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform Quality Management System evaluations and audits at Horizon’s facilities and those of our suppliers.
• Perform on-site audits and inspections at these facilities.
• Schedule time efficiently to provide cost effective job performance.
• Initiate and respond to all related job tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to multi-task and apply appropriate priorities to ensure that quality related tasks are completed on time for multiple projects with different schedules.
• Initiate and continue professional growth. Participate in training programs with passion to apply acquired knowledge into practice.
• Other duties as assigned by manager. 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science preferably BSEE, BSME, BSCE or BSIE.
• Experience with manufacturing quality and supplier quality.
• Experience in ISO 9001 or similar Quality standards and ability to implement those standards.
• Experience with QA test and inspection plan development.
• Experience with regulatory compliance.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs, Project or other project management software.  
• Experience in using CAD tools to review and understand technical drawings and specifications.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work with detailed drawings and measuring instruments without fatigue. 
May be required to walk, stand, and lift for extended periods of time. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
