Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for performing inspections, establishing quality assurance testing models, and contributing to the development of quality control policies in a manufacturing plant. This role involves coordinating day-to-day plant quality activities, implementing, and maintaining quality procedures and systems, and actively participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulates or helps formulate quality policies, procedures, and work instructions supporting the QMS.
- Interfaces with all other functional areas within the company and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.
- Key participant in internal quality audits.
- Leads quality projects as assigned.
- Supports and assists supplier development.
- Reviews and implements corrective actions, looking for problem trends. As warranted, quarantines or segregates affected finished goods or raw materials.
- Assist or lead and support teams in the improvement efforts of reducing DPPM or scrap cost.
- Conducted CPK and R&R studies as required to help drive quality improvements for current and new products.
- Participate actively in plant continuous quality improvement activities.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience.
- Proficient skills in disciplined problem-solving methodologies and techniques (8D preferred).
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Background in IATF16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
- Proven communication (verbal and written), analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (experience with SharePoint a plus).
- An action-oriented individual with a result-driven mindset.
- Strong interpersonal communication and team development skills.
- Lead Auditor experience preferred.
- Welding inspection experience preferred.
- CMM or Polyworks (Hexagon, Faro Arm, ext.) experience preferred.
- Experience with CATIA V5, Pro/E, AutoCAD, UG, or related CAD software is preferred.
