Position Summary:
Plan, coordinate, and direct the activities of the Engine Salvage Improvement team to support the Quality Control Department. Drive quality improvement through
the collection, analysis, and reporting of quality data. Analyze internal and external quality indicators for continuous improvement in quality metrics. Analyze
statistical data to determine quality trends and recommend actions to drive improvement through the production departments. Research and investigate quality
issues to determine root cause. Develop solutions to quality problems in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
- Lead/Supervise Specialists in vehicle repairs to include testing for root cause failure analysis.
- Assist other internal departments with root cause analysis (ABA) testing of warranty return parts.
- Manage and lead internal/external campaign activities. Support campaign efforts of removal or replacing suspect parts not limited to individual parts including
engine and transmission replacements. - Responsible for organizing and distributing work assignments to support company needs.
- Support special activities such as supporting research and design team, production quality evaluations, and quality assurance.
- Responsible for Engine Salvage feedback and countermeasure activity reports. Tracking log updates and modification if needed.
- Responsible for KPIs to include salvage daily report and maintaining weekly meeting agenda.
- Responsible for engine tear down analysis of failed engines. Issue CAR to responsible department, follow-up on improvement C/M for closure. Submit DPRs
to PC to close out payment. - Responsible for KMX quality. Work with Kia Mexico to investigate engine issues. Submit improvements to KMX if internal issues found. Repair engines
damaged during shipment. Issue CAR to responsible department, follow-up on improvement C/M for closure. Submit DPRs to PC to close out payment. - Responsible for implementation of standardized work procedures.
- Support yard sweeps if needed, to include creating temp work instructions to aid in repairs.
- Support IQI activities, random vehicle inspection at VPC to ensure powertrain quality. Provide feedback to management for improvement internal and external.
- Responsible for new model launch, vehicle inspection of first 50–100-unit evaluation.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent desired
Related Experience:
- 5 – 10 years job related experience preferred

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
