POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Director will interact and be directly involved with internal manufacturing plant quality performance and processes. They will assist, teach and mentor in root cause identification and permanent systemic corrective actions. As a member of the corporate quality team the Quality Director will be an active participant in the development and execution of the quality department strategic plan and global collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to participate in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of IAC's Quality Management System that complies with customer and industry quality system requirements within the existing corporate culture.
  • The position has a broad scope of responsibility in the quality arena with focused accountability in customer portal, internal data analysis and KPI achievement.
  • Will foster an environment and lead decision making that results in collaboration and action from key stakeholders including the customer, mfg plants, functional leads and the head office.
  • Will aid in aligning organizational and customer goals and provide leadership in a way that increases and promotes continuous improvement of the company.
  • Interface with customer quality representatives concerning issues with product quality and assure and verify that effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support manufacturing plants in resolution of customer quality concerns and potential escalation.
  • Analyze data and create proposals and feasible action plans to identify future risks and correct negative trends. Use analysis to initiate improvement projects at manufacturing sites.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Ensure IATF 16949 and customer specific compliance and audit readiness at manufacturing plants.
  • Work with IAC plants to ensure implementation of standards, quality systems and continuous improvement activities. Tracks the improvement and initiates countermeasures if progress does not meet expectations.
  • Promote a culture focused on actionable ways to identify and reduce cost of poor quality through continuous improvement in the manufacturing plants.
  • Oversee current and future workload. Works with mfg plant leadership to ensure the necessary level of resources are available in to support the workload and have proper training and skill set required for success.
  • Develops and executes long-term progressive strategy to ensure the Quality function becomes increasingly proactive in addressing IAC's manufacturing plant performance issues.
  • Lead regional Quality Manager meetings that promote teamwork, team building, and knowledge sharing among group and across regions.
  • Support new programs and plants as an expert in QMS standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), change management processes, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Internal Audit, Management Review, safe launch planning etc.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives/projects to improve data tracking and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in onboarding process for new key quality personnel.
  • Ensure read across of lessons learned and best practices.
  • Responsible for the coordination and reporting of quality metrics to the organization that indicate customer satisfaction and the effectiveness of the quality management systems.
  • Actively participate and add value to Quality Leadership meetings to establish short and long term plans to improve the quality management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) undergraduate degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 15+ years of experience in quality assurance roles, including experience as a Plant Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of automotive industry quality management standards (VDA, AIAG-APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc)
  • Self-starting, strong leader with excellent communication skills that have resulted in a successful track record of accomplishment
  • Drive, intelligence, and high personal expectations of getting results both individually and as part of a team.
  • High level of interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, mentor, and partner across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Ability to lead by example, through influence and collaboration is essential.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, Share Point, etc.
  • Certification as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality Auditor through ASQ or equivalent is preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Frequent travel required.
