Allen Flavors, Inc. is a flavor formulation and ingredient supply-company currently seeking Quality Control Laboratory Technician
The QC Laboratory Technician will perform Quality Control analytical and sensory inspections of ingredients and production batches. They will be responsible for running instrumentation and performing day to day task inside the lab. The position will report to the QC supervisor.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in Daily Room Audits/ Pre-Operation inspection of building, including checking all scales using verified weights.
- Ability to conduct analysis Bases (Bldg. 220), Flavors (Bldg. 230), Raw Materials (Bldg. 220) to ensure products are within specifications. The tests include but aren’t limited to: Organoleptic, pH, Brix, Titratable Acidity, Specific Gravity, Density, Absorbance, FTIR, NIRA, Water Activity, etc.
- Data entry and maintenance of those results
- Maintain library of Control Samples for bases and finished products.
- Maintain retains of bases in walk-in cooler.
- Create finished product for all batches of liquid bases and test analytically and organoleptically (Only applies to Bldg. 220)
- Prepare retains for evaluation against production schedule in advance.
- Raw material testing includes but is not limited to single strength juices, diluting and acidifying color, organoleptic and analytical analysis and near infra-red analysis using the MicroPhazir
- Responsible for verifying COA information and proper labeling on incoming goods. Signing off on incoming ingredient CofA verifying regulatory and preventive controls requirements, such as GMO status, allergen, micro, organic, etc.
- Responsible for monitoring expired materials and reviewing critical materials report for upcoming batches, re-evaluating them and extending or rejecting as needed.
- Responsible for weekly check of cleaning solution levels
- Weekly production water and rinse water chlorine analysis
- Responsible for ATP testing and verification of clean vessels
- Tasting sheet maintenance and communication of disposition with clear decisive notes
- Following Good Laboratory Practices
- Responsible for reporting food safety and issues concerning nonconformance of product or equipment to QC Laboratory Specialist or QC Supervisor
- Understand and follow Company Quality programs such as HACCP, Dietary Supplements Certification, SQF, Food Defense, Food Safety, Food Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices
- Other duties assigned by Management.
- Backup to QC Lab Specialist and QC Lab Technicians in other buildings
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School degree minimum with 1-3 years related experience. Two (2) year college degree preferred.
Experience:
Entry Level: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a manufacturing plant. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to organize work to efficiently complete tasks.
- Knows and follows GMPs, GLP’s and other Company safety procedures.
- Strong ability to take initiative.
- Accurate and efficient data entry
- Need to have a very keen focus on details.
- Forklift Certification is a preferred.
