SUMMARY:
Responsible for directing and planning work to define, develop, apply, sustain, and improve the QMS (Quality Management System) to efficiently meet all our customer quality expectations. Provide staff education, training and support with the use of data driven strategies, process, procedures, assignments, and monitoring of quality performance metrics needed to achieve the set company quality department and QMS initiatives and goals. Reports and conducts/coordinates analysis to determine failure root cause and ensure necessary actions are taken to improve quality performance metrics as required by our company accepted certification body.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage employees by organizing and monitoring work flow and performance.
2. Develop and document processes, procedures, records and reports to maintain a Quality Control Manual and program to be in compliance with the most recent AAMA Procedural Guide.
3. Responsible for internal and external quality, customer complaints and all customer communication related to quality issues. Confers with customers on changes in quality standards and communicates requirements to internal stakeholders.
4. Lead, promote and monitor continuous improvement concepts to improve customer satisfaction and reduce the number of defects and failure costs.
5. Develop and devise standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation of materials, in process and finished products. Maintain and update inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
6. Develop materials and programs to conduct training sessions on quality concepts. Work with production supervisors and employees on all shifts to provide guidance and instruction on proper inspection and reporting procedures.
7. Investigate, review and analyze data to identify quality problems and recommend changes to production processes or quality controls to eliminate the problem.
8. Work with the Product Development department to develop and establish quality standards for new products.
9. Audit and qualify suppliers. Work with suppliers to develop quality standards for the goods. Perform inspection and measures of purchased parts, subassemblies and finished product according to defined criteria using visual, physical, mechanical electrical and/or computer generated measurements. Collaborate with suppliers on problems or necessary actions to be taken.
10. Select quality inspection tools and software to support the department. Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and fixtures. Monitor and maintain the inspection equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation.
11. Review materials, components or products returned under warranty claims. Analyze failure reason(s) and advice on action to be taken.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in Quality Assurance management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of AAMA certification.
- Experience in conducting quality audits and implementing corrective actions.
- Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to fabricate solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, such as Quality Assurance, Engineering or equivalent field desired.
2. Previous experience in QA systems implementation and management.
3. Desired experience in Window and Door manufacturing or similar field.
4. Previous supervisory training and/or experience.
5. Knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Quality Management systems.
6. Project management training and/or experience.
7. Formal Lean training.
8. Valid driver’s license.
