Purchasing Assistant
Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated Purchasing Assistant for our dynamic Purchasing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the optimization of purchasing and inventory control process in the Holland Pump, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with our supply chain processes. Your expertise will help to maintain the flow of materials necessary for production, manage supplier relationships, and optimize inventory levels to meet production targets while minimizing costs. Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the procurement and inventory control of raw materials, components, and supplies used in production for the MFG division.
- Obtain and maintain current pricing from all vendors.
- Manage and optimize inventory levels to reduce costs without compromising production schedules.
- Identify vendors that can be consolidated and what alternative products can be used for any given part.
- Order, receive and inspect parts.
- Monitor supplier performance to assess the ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
- Update production schedule as needed.
- Complete CAR forms (Capital Acquisition Requests) in a timely manner.
- Negotiate optimum pricing and payment terms with Key vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Prepare and manage the materials management department's budget.
- Develop risk management processes to minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions.
- Report to the Purchasing Manger daily with respect to production requirements and PO approval/stats.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Purchasing, inventory control, or supply chain role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of procurement, warehousing, and material handling operations
- Negotiation skills with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions
- Capacity to analyze data and provide strategic recommendations for inventory management
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with other departments such as production, sales, and finance
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects
- Flexibility to adapt to changing production schedules and shifting priorities
