Purchasing Agent

Job Summary:

Under guidance of the Purchasing VP, the Purchasing Agent will purchase goods, materials, and services according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Purchases all supplies and materials associated with production in accordance with the company’s weekly production release schedule.
• Performs visual inventory within plants to maintain janitorial supply levels.
• Manage non-conforming part issues with our vendor/supplier base.
• Assist the Purchasing VP in evaluation of vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
• Maintain balance on hand adjustments.
• Update bill of materials for manufactured parts as requested.
• Assist the Purchasing VP with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
• Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
• Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
• Assist in bi-annual inventory count.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience, and Specific Skills Required:

Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to learn.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience: At least two years of purchasing or related experience preferred. Some college education in related field preferred.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.May require travel to vendors or off-site storage.

Organizational Relationships:

Supervision Received: VP Purchasing. May receive input from Materials Manager.

Supervision Exercised: None.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
