THE POSITION

Do you have experience in purchasing work or in the procurement and inventory of goods? The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Bureau of Office Services is looking for someone to be responsible for performing a variety of purchasing activities in the Division of Procurement and Contracting. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Purchasing Agent, your responsibilities will entail performing thorough procurement tasks such as assessing requisitions, creating bid documents, evaluating and granting bids, drafting contracts, and issuing purchase orders. This role will require constant communication with vendors and other personnel. You will be tasked with verifying that all purchases made using the purchasing card adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by established policy and management directives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment (7.5 hours/day; 37.5 hours/week)
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days in a pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville.
  • Travel: As needed
  • Overtime: As needed
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
