The Purchasing Agent/Buyer’s responsibility will include writing and maintaining purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, quality assurance, returning nonconforming parts (RMA), and coordinating deliveries with stock room and management. The Purchasing Agent/Buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform required activities to drive continuous improvement in on time delivery, material cost, and supplier quality
Responsible for placing orders for production materials, services, prototypes, tooling, and other purchases as required
Recommend and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the best total cost
Interact and communicate with suppliers - request for quotations (RFQs), negotiations, delivery schedules, purchase order acknowledgements, expediting, order quantities, quality, packaging, invoicing, etc
Provide regular feedback to suppliers regarding their performance
Maintain up to date part data, costs, and supplier documentation in ERP system and other Purchasing files
Communicate current arrival times (ETAs) to Production and internal customers
Perform daily work in ERP system for on-time delivery of goods and services
Monitor inventory to ensure that physical stock levels are at appropriate levels
Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery
Analyze market trends to make insightful buying decisions
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as requested
