The City of Minot is seeking an innovative, community-oriented leader as the next Public Works Operations Director!

This is advanced professional and managerial work involving the planning, organizing, implementing and directing PUBLIC WORKS OPERATIONS street/sidewalk/storm sewer construction and maintenance, public transportation, fleet management services/vehicle and equipment maintenance, public building maintenance, and cemetery operations. This position will also oversee aspects of flood control projects and public contract administration. Work is performed under the executive direction of the Assistant City Manager.
Serves as Director of the Public Works Operations Department; directly or indirectly supervises all employees of the department.

- Plans, organizes, prioritizes, and directs the activities of the department
- Plans and participates in technical and administrative studies and reviews reports of program needs and accomplishments.
- Evaluates the work of division superintendents, and administration and support staff; identifies training needs; provides counseling as needed.
- Evaluates needs for facilities and services in the assigned areas of responsibility; assesses financing possibilities and available resources in relation to needs; recommends priorities accordingly and develops programs to obtain objectives.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with community groups and agencies and the media.
- Extensive knowledge of modern principles, methods, practices and materials in planning, designing, operating and maintaining PUBLIC WORKS services, operations and infrastructure.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective PUBLIC WORKS programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, Leading People, Strategic Thinking, Planning and Evaluating, Developing Others, and Interpersonal Skills
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is preferred and five to seven (5-7) years of managerial experience in a field related to PUBLIC WORKS, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Salary Range is $108,691 to $161,353 DOQ.
