- Schedule: 40 hours, 6 A.M. - 6 P.M.
- Reports to: Sergeant
- Department: Public Safety
Job Description:
The Public Safety Security Officer is responsible for physical security of persons and property associated with the college. The Security Officer will do so by presenting a visible presence on campus by means of foot and/or bicycle patrol.
Essential Functions:
- Patrol the main campus area on foot or bicycle to serve as a deterrent to crime and to ensure that all college property and buildings are secure and free from hazard. The Security Officer will operate and monitor closed circuit television (CCTV) equipment to perform this same duty.
- Respond to requests for assistance from students, staff, and visitors that may include locking/unlocking buildings and providing escorts for other college departments.
- Assist the Public Safety Police Officer in some aspects of incident scene management such as crowd, traffic, and parking control. They may also be called on to assist responding external emergency resources to appropriate locations on campus.
- Provide a visible, uniformed presence on campus to detect and report security and safety concerns and to facilitate safe and efficient movement of those in the college community.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
- This position requires driving for college business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Additional Information:
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, Pennsylvania ACT 153 background clearances, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
