Columbia College Chicago a private urban institution of over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for a Part-Time Production Coordinator in the Cinema and Television Arts Department.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, the Part Time Production Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all facets of media production processes serving intermediate, advanced, and graduate courses and students in Cinema and Television Arts. This position will work closely with the full time Production Coordinator, faculty, the chief engineer, the associate chairs, and production facility supervisors to meet current demands and plan for future needs for courses and students.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate departmental and curricular projects, including student capstone projects, and other student class exercises and departmental productions as needed. This may include but not limited to planning and implementing schedules for departmental shoots, provide input and collaborate on efficient use of resources.
- Assist with developing production policies, best practices, and code of conduct on shoots; meet with or visit classes as required to explain and clarify production policies including insurance issues.
- Assist with the necessary department purchases for student projects funded through the Student Production Fund or other departmental funding sources.
- Oversee processes of obtaining location permits from city and municipal offices.
- Oversee insurance processes including certificates of insurance, insurance on department-rented equipment, and insurance claims (with assistance from office staff, the Controller's Office, and the legal department).
- Ensure all related documentation for departmental productions are archived (digital/hard copy) and accessible to staff and coordinators. This includes but not limited to permissions, contracts/agreements, releases, production binders and clearances.
- Contribute to budget discussions to help plan for future purchases, upgrades, and allotment of equipment.
- Verify space requests for student media productions and studio shoots.
- Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.
- BA in a communication-related field required
- Three to five years media production experience, experience within a college/university setting a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail with a demonstrated, proactive ability to organize and respond to varying requests and competing priorities.
- Understanding and experience in navigating administrative systems
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written to express thoughts and ideas effectively to others through a variety of media.
- Ability to interact with faculty, staff, and students, individually and in class settings with standards of collegiality and responsibility.
- Good computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and scheduling and data management required.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
