Job Opportunity - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Contractor)
We are currently looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner- Board Certified to join our team for outpatient private practice work, for a part-time to full-time position with availability between Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, PST. Will start off with 2-3 days a week and work up to 4-5 days a week. Must be willing to see patients in person once per week as needed at our Irvine office and other days may be telehealth.
The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitionerwill be required to evaluate, develop, and treat adults and provide continuous and comprehensive services in office via telemedicine/in-person necessary for optimal Mental Health, prevention, and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance to patients in an outpatient facility setting. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and medication management with supportive therapy of Mental Health problems and psychiatric disorders. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitionershall work collaboratively with other medical and Mental Health providers.
Schedule: minimum 24 hours a week to start, then as caseload builds up, days will increase (minimum 32 hours/week).
- Our expectations are to have candidate working a minimum of 32-40 hours a week by 6-9 months.
Supervision – Medical oversight provided through practice agreement with collaborating Physician/Psychiatrist and provided weekly meetings with Clinical Supervising PMHNP on staff
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
Patient Care Management/Documentation
- Provide excellent top quality patient-focused care in an empathetic and supportive treatment environment
- Work with a diverse patient population providing comprehensive patient evaluations to determine a differential diagnosis and plan for intervention that adheres to an ethical medication management practice.
- Adhere to standards via identified text and/or via office practice standard protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy.
- Document care provided; meeting standards for chart reviews.
- Demonstrates expertise in a variety of treatment methodologies.
- Proper use of counseling techniques, interpersonal communication, interview techniques, conflict resolutions.
- Provides appropriate and timely documentation of clinical encounters.
- Adheres to all mandated guidelines for patient's clinical care and license.
- Renders appropriate guidance & therapy.
- Complies with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines & all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
Consultation and Referral
- Seek consultations as appropriate.
- Facilitate the process of ethical decision-making as appropriate.
Patient Education
- Utilize teaching-learning theory with patients and their families to influence patient outcomes.
Communication/Citizenship
- Identify system-specific problems, which require an evaluation and/or change; work with appropriate staff to resolve these issues by participating in performance improvement processes.
- Takes an active role to contribute to the improvement of office functioning.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must have previous specialty-specific Psychiatry experience and experience using mood stabilizers and antipsychotics
- Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally with health care team members and families.
- Ability to function independently with regards to most clinical decision making.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must be attentive and tactful.
- Ability to utilize/access computer an electronic medical records (EMR) system to document patient charts.
- Performs other tasks as required for patient care and efficient functioning of the business.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience
At least one (1) year of post-graduate experience in a behavioral health setting as a PMHNP preferred, but willing to hire and train new grad that is willing to learn.
Education
Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. DNP, preferred
License, Certification, Registration, and Requirements
- All candidates must have a valid and current, unrestricted, *CALIFORNIA* NP and Furnishing license without any disciplinary action(s).
- Candidate must hold a valid degree from an accredited institution.
- Candidate must have a valid California DEA registration
- Candidate must have ANCC PMHNP Board Certification
- We prefer candidate to have minimum of one year clinical PMHNP experience, but willing to train new graduate
- Candidate must be fully vaccinated as outlined by our policy
- Must not have opted out of Medicare
- Musthave or be willing to createa* CaliforniaProfessional Nursing Corporation. * Candidate will need to create a Professional Nursing Corporation within 30 days of being hired, if you already don't have an existing professional nursing corporation.
Credentialing: We will also credential you through our company, but having previously been credentialed with previous/current jobs expedites the credentialing process and your start date.
Hourly Rate: $80 to $120 per hour based on productivity
