Job Brief:
The PSV Technician will test, inspect, and repair all spring operated and pilot operated PRVs. The Tech will perform work according to manufacture manuals and critical dimension for repair as well as NBBIC and company VR manual.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain total awareness of customer and company policy, regulations, and procedures.
- Perform field work and must demonstrate the proficient performance of all valve repair procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of ASME, NBIC, and API codes.
- Teach/mentor apprentice-level employees to become leads.
- Understand and adhere to company safety policies (Job Safety Analysis, Critical Job Reviews, safety observation, etc.) and procedures.
- Test and repair all spring-operated and pilot operated relief valves including AGCO, Consolidated, Crosby, Farris, Mercer, Taylor etc.
- Service API/ANSI/other valves per customer and valve specifications.
- Maintain complete familiarity with testing/setting both vapor and liquid valves under NBBIC and company VR manual.
- Ability to read manufacture manuals and critical dimension for repair.
- Order parts for upcoming work.
- Lead activities, including safety training and safety meetings, for all staff including helpers and all tech levels.
- Ensure paperwork/reports are complete and accurate; job tickets submitted for invoicing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical school degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience conducting valve repair, testing, reconditioning, or modification of relief valves.
- Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Proven ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of VR & NBIC regulations.
- Computer skills, including Word and Excel.
