This position serves as a professional real property appraiser and personal property examiner and a professional regarding assessment practices and equalization matters assisting the State Tax Commission (STC) in determining the statistical basis necessary for mandated state equalization and assists in the direct administration of the General Property Tax Laws. As a District Supervisor for District 2, Northern Michigan region, this person has considerable independent responsibility and provides analysis and input for taxpayer complaints, proper assessment practices for taxing jurisdictions and their officials, appraisal of certain state assessed real property, and special projects as assigned. District 2 Northern Michigan Region includes the counties of Alcona, Arenac, Bay, Benzie, Clare, Gladwin, Grand Traverse, Iosco, Isabella, Lake, Leelanau, Manistee, Mason, Midland, Missaukee, Oceana, Ogemaw, Osceola, Saginaw, and Wexford. The District Supervisor is a member of the Property Services Division field staff and will be responsible for duties for all counties within a defined district(s). Must be the first-line Professional Manager in most phases of assessment administration. Typically supervises up to five professional appraisers in various counties throughout the State.**You must live in one of these counties: Alcona, Arenac, Bay, Benzie, Clare, Gladwin, Grand Traverse, Iosco, Isabella, Lake, Leelanau, Manistee, Mason, Midland, Missaukee, Oceana, Ogemaw, Osceola, Saginaw, or Wexford.**Home address is primary workstation. Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. ExperienceNote: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.Four years of professional experience in real estate equivalent to a Property Analyst, including two years equivalent to a Property Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to a Property Analyst 12.Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Go to evaluators for a list of accepted organizations that evaluate foreign credentials. Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.

Certification by the State Tax Commission as a Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO) or Michigan Master Assessing Officer (MMAO) is required. For our purposes, "official college transcripts" must contain the college/university name and address, the degree conferred, and date granted, coursework completed (especially if no degree granted), and the Registrar's signature and/or seal.
