Napa Firewise is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce the risk and impacts of wildfires through hazardous wildfire fuel reduction and community education. We achieve this by supporting Fire Safe Councils, receive local, state, and federal grants, and educate our communities on defensible space, home hardening, and wildfire preparedness. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Projects and Grants Analyst II to join our dynamic team of wildfire mitigation and preparedness specialists serving Napa County. As the Projects and Grants Analyst II, you would be responsible for oversight of grants and contracts awarded to our organization. This position is responsible for detailed tracking of project metrics, deliverables, and budgets to ensure the integrity of all grant reporting. You would work closely with our staff and partners to provide guidance on matters related to grants, financial reporting, data analysis, and forecasting. This role ensures compliance with grant regulations and financial requirements and ensures proper reporting to federal and state funding as well as private grants.

Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000 annually; based on experience plus a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid vacation/sick time.

Remote Work: Remote candidates living in the northern San Francisco Bay Area or within commuting distance of Napa, CA will be considered. This position requires occasional travel to Napa County.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, non-profit management, or other position-relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a non-profit project coordinator, analyst, or similar role in non-profit accounting and grant administration. A master’s degree in a relevant major may be substituted for one year of related experience.
  • A minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience using software such as Monday.com, QBO or nonprofit accounting, Ecivis, Acrobat Pro, DocuSign, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP with non-profit organizations.
  • Able to go into the field, ride along using all-terrain vehicles, and work with field staff; ability to walk on uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Valid State Driver’s license with a minimum of three years’ driving experience; must have a satisfactory driving record, with no DUIs, and be insurable under normal insurance rates.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Grants Committee Meetings

  • Participates and informs strategy during bi-monthly meetings and work closely with team members to provide administrative oversight and seeks and proposes new funding opportunities.

Compliance

  • Maintains vendor accounts; ensures all required insurance documents and certificates are compliant with laws and policies. Works closely with vegetation management vendors; creates stronger processes for vendor oversight.
  • Ensures administrative processes are compliant with grant terms, budgets, and policies.

Projects

  • In partnership with the Program Director of Vegetation Management Operations and the Finance Manager reviews and advises on new project proposals and supports budget forecasting.
  • Develops and clarifies complex budgets and financial reports and ensures schedules and timelines align with grant terms.
  • Tracks expenses and ensure all expenditures are in alignment with grant goals and agreements.
  • Coordinates with funders and licensed professionals to ensure environmental compliance obligations are met.
  • Works with staff and contractors to support the organization’s core services.

Grants

  • Assists with the preparation and submission of grant applications to Federal, State, and private funders.
  • Creates monthly, quarterly and/or semi-annual financial and progress reports as required by funders.
