Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Cardiology Director of Grants Management, the Sr. Grants Financial Analyst will assist with managing the post-award financial operations and financial reporting of various sections within the Division of Cardiology. The incumbent will perform post-award activities, including detailed reconciliation of project budgets, development of budget projections, making any adjustments to project budgets to meet project goals in compliance with sponsor and institutional policies, and providing assistance and oversight to effort management.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor post-award activities within the Division and in support of an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts within one or more units using knowledge of grant and contract management rules and regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills.
  • Post-award activities include regular review, reconciliation, and projection of award finances, preparing adjustments and corrections to award budgets, preparing financial reports, and at the end of the award, ensuring all financial requirements have been met and closing out the award.
  • Interact regularly with faculty members conducting sponsored projects.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and all policies and award regulations.
  • Upon award acceptance, define account establishment parameters, including billing and reporting requirements, budget, and cost-sharing obligations.
  • Distribute award information to PIs and relevant staff.
  • Responsible for making adjustments to payroll for all budgeted positions (including relative costsharing positions).
  • Review and reconcile award expenditures and budgets, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Project and forecast future award expenditures.
  • Manage budget, reporting, and compliance timelines through the lifecycle of the grant or contract.
  • Communicate with PIs regularly regarding budget and expense adjustments and revisions.
  • Complete financial reports to be sent to the sponsor, as required by the award terms and conditions.
  • Monitor compliance with agency and University regulations regarding reporting.
  • Coordinate and submit requests for No Cost Extensions, Carryover, rebudgeting requests, changes in scope, and other changes to the award; ensure all requests are done in compliance with sponsor guidelines and University policies.
  • Close out all funded projects consistent with university process and timelines.
  • Follow and adhere to SOPs related to post-award functions.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent in education and experience plus at least four years of progressive related financial experience in a large complex organization, preferably in a healthcare or university setting.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to manage and work effectively with complex financial systems, models and methodologies; research and prepare comprehensive reports; plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services; and develop and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff and administrators at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform insightful financial analysis in a research administration environment.
  • Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills needed.
  • Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
