Job Description
The Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) advises the Mayor of the City of New York on criminal justice policy. MOCJ develops and implements strategies, with partners inside and outside government, to reduce crime and incarceration and to promote fairness and legitimacy. MOCJ works with law enforcement, city agencies, non-profits, foundations, and others to implement data-driven strategies that address current crime conditions, prevent offending, and build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.
About the Role:
MOCJ is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Budget and Grants Analyst to join our team, under the supervision of the Budget Director. This individual will help to lead the agency's procurement process, manage and analyze its budgets, and review grants in alignment with NYC and MOCJ's financial goals and objectives.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Contributing to the development of strategic financial plans and initiatives to support the agency's objectives.
-Conducting financial analysis to support decision-making, cost allocation, and resource optimization.
-Assisting to develop tracking systems and providing regular reporting to monitor progress of Budget and Grants utilization.
-Interacting with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), while serving as an advocate for the agency on Budget and other OMB matters, such as helping to monitor agency items currently before OMB.
-Preparing and submitting grant claims and reimbursement requests in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to grant guidelines and funding agency requirements.
-Monitoring the status of grant claims and address any issues to facilitate prompt reimbursement.
-Reviewing and validating invoices related to grant-funded contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant terms, which include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies or issues with invoices.
-Working with cross-functional teams to assess procurement needs, establish requirements, and streamline purchasing processes.
-Negotiating and establishing contracts with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
-Ensuring compliance with City's procurement policies, procedures, and regulations, including ethical sourcing practices, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and sustainable procurement strategies.
Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
