Department Overview
The North America (NA) Services PMO supports the System Integration and Life Cycle Services Team to execute mission critical communications system integration contracts. The NA Services PMO establishes and maintains a services methodology framework and is responsible to continuously improve processes and provide governance, support and training to the NA Services organization. The Service Excellence team is an organizational unit of the NA Services PMO that supports project teams specifically in the areas of best practice process definition, documentation and process improvements.
Job Description
Overview:
The Project Scheduler is a critical tool in setting customer expectations and establishing revenue plan. The role of the Master Scheduler will be to serve as a primary scheduler for complex projects and as coach, consultant and auditor for other project managers to ensure scheduling best practices are adhered to in the region in support of the organization’s strategic objectives. Lead resource management practices for the region to ensure efficient use of resources and effective planning.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
Work within the project team to create the work breakdown structure, plan resource needs and develop the master schedule around the contract requirements.
Own the master schedule for complex projects supporting the Lead Program/Project Manager. Identify and record the progress of work to baseline milestones, recommend corrective actions to identified constraints.
Provide guidance and support to project managers to ensure scheduling best practices are used in managing projects. Identify potential gaps or obstacles that may compromise the success of projects, trouble shooting, scenario scheduling and presenting appropriate strategies to overcome barriers. Review project schedules for adherence to project requirements and scheduling best practices.
Collaborate with functional managers, subcontractors and other Project Schedulers to ensure resources are available when required. Provide contingency plans to the Project Manager if necessary.
Assist with the development and teaching of Scheduling and Primavera and/or Microsoft Project Training programs for Project Managers.
Provide mentoring to other PMs in managing project budgets while at the same time maintaining the projects' schedules.
Conduct audits on projects in the region to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Gather and analyze information to prepare reports on the progress of projects.
Evaluate current procedures and recommend changes to improve the efficiency of planning and scheduling of projects.
Provide regional overview of resource management practices. Ensure appropriate processes followed to efficiently use resources and maintain metrics to monitor.
Participate in project reviews and status meetings and generate reports for internal and external use in tracking projects’ progress.
Additional Skills/Responsibilities:
Computer Skills: Minimum 5 years of experience working with Primavera, Microsoft Project, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
PMP/PMI certification required, PMI-SP preferred.
Experience must include demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, and develop schedules for varied projects and programs, in a customer implementation setting.
Expert in Scheduling Best Practices
Demonstrated experience within large enterprise scale technology projects.
Thorough understanding and tracking of project performance metrics (% of completion, EV, etc).
Experience in monitoring progress of project work and tracking progress in scheduling software.
Project Schedulers with strong Project Control Cost experience.
High communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Excellent listening skills and have strong communication skills
Working knowledge of NA Services Systems Integration and Lifecycle Services processes strongly preferred.
Some travel within US/Canada will be required.

Basic Requirements
- BS degree in Project Management, Engineering or similar discipline is preferred
- 3 + years of project or program management/scheduling experience or similar is required
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
