Project Manager - Air Pollution Control - Oem

Location: Southfield, MI

Position Summary:

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for handling multiple, often fast-track equipment rebuild/repair/modification projects in the field of environmental Air Pollution Control for customers in diverse industries across North America and Asia. Project size ranges from $20K to $10M. The PM performs project & process engineering, generates & maintains the schedule, forecasts & maintains all costs & scope changes. Manages all communication with the Customer. The PM develops mechanical scopes of work and requisitions mechanical equipment and subcontractors. Works closely with the Sales, Purchasing, Accounting, Manufacturing, Field Operations and Service departments to ensure successful project completion. Some travel is required, potentially overseas.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Detail development and monitoring of bid pack project schedule in conjunction with the master project schedules and purchasing
• Ensure that the project scope of work is fully understood by the project team
• Develop project schedule with the planning manager and with other departments
• Coordinate client information (e.g., project scope) with other departments
• Coordinate invoicing of vendors and of client with project accounting
• Prepare client change orders
• Development of cost reports and monthly updates
• Preparation of cost reports and monthly updates
• Develop and write cost reports for projects including cockpit charts where applicable
• Work within the guidelines of the Dürr Group project management manual and other Dürr BOS procedures
• Monitor site activities for schedule compliance, costs and health and safety
• Attend and facilitate project coordination meetings
• Clarification and finalization of bid documents
• Chair and / or support project meetings
• Prepare monthly project progress updates for customer as required
• Project cash flow projections
• Risk management identify, manage and control project risks
• Provide mentoring to associate Project Managers and graduate trainees
• Conduct internal project closeout meeting, generate and distribute closeout report
• Closeout the project with the customer and obtain final payment
• Manage / approve warranty requests from the customer

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in appropriate subject (e.g. Engineering, Construction Management)
• Two years of experience in field of project management
• Position related experience in similar industry strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus
• Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
• Good time management skills
• Good organizational skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Good technical writing skills
• Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
• Able to work well independently and in a team environment
• Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
• Adaptable to change in a learning environment
• Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Invoicing according to Contract Terms.
• Basic knowledge of Controls Engineering is a plus.
• Electrical hardwire drawings
• Basic PLC control principles
• Basic knowledge of sheet metal & structural fabrication.
• Basic understanding of heavy equipment installation procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory duties, though management of projects includes directing project related activities of the project team members.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distance vision. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to:

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Climb ladders or stairs
• Scoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary based on need. Frequent evening and weekend work are required. May be required to work holidays. Overtime may be required.

Travel:

This position requires moderate travel, roughly 35%. Travel can be both overnight and during the business day, and can be both local and international.
