Job Description
We are seeking a Project Manager for a one-year hybrid/remote assignment with our Sacramento-based client to direct, coordinate, implement, track, and oversee all aspects of a project, ensuring that it is aligned and executed with the strategy and goals of the organization. The ideal candidate will have public sector experience in California and is expected to deliver on time with the highest level of quality.
Specific Task Include:
Plan and implement large-scale, multi-phase projects.
Help define project scope, goals, risks, and deliverables.
Define tasks and required resources.
Collect and manage the project team.
Manage budget, costs, and allocation of project resources.
Create and maintain project schedule.
Track deliverables.
Support and direct team.
Lead quality assurance.
Monitor and report on project progress.
Present to stakeholders reports on progress as well as problems and solutions.
Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs.
Coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously, including workload prioritization.
Evaluate and assess the result of the project.
Publish Deliverable Expectations Documents (DEDs) and Deliverable Acceptance Documents (DADs) for functional, operational, and technical requirements.
Execute knowledge transfer to client organization.
Collaborate with the head office team to produce polished deliverables to the client.
Requirements:
Experience in all aspects of IT project governance and IT project management:
o State Administrative Manual (SAM)
o Project Approval Lifecycle
o Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM)
o California-Project Management Framework (CA-PMF)
o Software/System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
o Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
Experience implementing large systems for government.
Experience developing project management standards.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
5+ years experience successfully managing and directing IT-related projects.
Active Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI, or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively, resolve issues, and produce assets clearly and understandably.
Preferred
2+ years of experience with the State of CA
Experience in all aspects of IT project governance and IT Project Management, including:
o State Administrative Manual (SAM).
o Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL)
o Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM).
o California-Project Management Framework (CA-PMF)
o Software/System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
o COTS
Relevant certifications may also include but are not limited to PMI-ACP, CSM, ITIL
Experience in any of the following industries: Transportation, Corrections & Rehabilitation, Healthcare, etc.
Proficiency in MS-Office & MS Project Professional
Ability to work well under pressure and meet short deadlines.
Custom solution creation
Education, Certification, Training & Experience
A bachelors degree in business administration or liberal arts or at least five years of equivalent (Engineering or IT-related is desired). Masters degree is a plus.
Certificates in project management and organizational change are desirable.
