This position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual who is looking to work on a high profile multimillion-dollar infrastructure program/project. The position will require extensive client interaction, working with stakeholders, designers, contractors, utility companies and permit agencies in DC. In addition, the position will also require supervisory responsibilities of the staff.
The ability to work collaboratively with others, to work with a diverse staff, and to make mistakes but learn from them are important considerations for selection.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Project Manager position include:
- Assists the Project Executive and the client, with receiving, reviewing, and routing correspondence from the client and contractors.
- Tracks correspondence response dates, prepares periodic reports of action items, and occasionally prepares draft correspondence for the Project Executive and Project Manager.
- Coordinates with all project stakeholders to research information or questions and responds accordingly.
- Joins with others from an engineering, architectural, design or construction perspective to help to define the scope of work, to draft requests for proposals, or to support the advertising, evaluating and award of the contract.
- Will lead discussion regarding contractors cost reasonableness; may be asked for opinion regarding overall price or an item of cost.
- Will lead discussion regarding contractors baseline or look-ahead schedule; may be asked for opinion regarding any schedule changes.
- Visits the project construction on a regular schedule or as needed; work progress or problems that may affect cost or schedule; may take project photos, label them and posts them in Prolog collaborative software; post the IDR in Prolog collaborative software and discusses the report with the Project Manager; may be asked to follow-up on certain items.
- Attends regular project progress meetings with the contractor and the client/project executive; follow-up on certain action items.
- Assists in the preparation of periodic briefings to senior leadership about a project or the overall program.
- If project disputes arise, the Project Manager will research particular issues relating to schedule variances, change orders and proposed change orders, liquidated damages, or liability for architect/engineers errors and omissions
- Attend/lead public hearings or meetings.
- Participates in overall Departmental safety program.
- Complete document controls of the project.
