ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Performing actions within an appropriate and reasonable time period
- Provide support to General Manager in the areas of:
- Design and installation of surface facilities (Shafts, mine fans, conveyors, water treatment facilities, dewatering systems, boreholes, access roads, coarse and fine refuse facilities.
- Develop construction plans with other staff and consultants
This position requires a safety minded individual with a strong drive and enthusiasm to advance our organization forward by establishing safe, technically sound, economically feasible, and environmentally responsible plans for the continued operation of an underground coal mine.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mining Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer registration or FE is preferred
- Requires a strong understanding of mine operations including u/g mine ventilation, analytic skills and knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
- Requires 5 to 7 years of related experience in mining operations
- Requires good communication, supervisory and project management skills
- Requires travel into u/g mine, surface construction sites, and preparation plants
- Computer skills need to include Word, Excel, and AutoCAD
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Employee must clearly, effectively, and appropriately communicate in written, electronic and verbal forms
- Compliance with company policies, procedures and safety standard
- Must perform in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
- Must be capable of effectively, efficiently and accurately performing duties
- Demonstrates strong ability to learn and apply new traits to assigned tasks
- Capable of understanding and using surveying equipment
- Possessing initiative to follow through, overcome obstacles, and meet objectives
- Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test and background check
- Must be able to successfully complete industry approved training courses
- Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
JOB SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed or as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
- This position is primarily a dayshift position. However, must be able to work a rotating shift schedule on a 24/7 basis (subject to the applicant’s religious practices), if needed.
- Traverse uneven, rocky, wet, slippery, muddy terrain (frozen, icy surfaces in winter).
- Climb in and out of automotive vehicles safely
- Must be capable of safely working in extreme hot and cold conditions and wet, rainy conditions
- Must be capable of working in and around active mining areas and with industrial equipment
- Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
- Ability to push/pull as needed
- Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
- Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
